Our Story

Hello, fellow Mandarin learners!

We’re Jazmine and Yang, a husband and wife duo who spend most of our days writing and editing from our apartment in Taipei. We’re so excited to be a part of your Mandarin learning journey.

We understand that finding the right reading material to improve your Chinese can be daunting. Often, texts are either too complex, too dull, or focused on one specific region. That’s why we created MandoLearn—to provide engaging and diverse content that makes learning Mandarin an enjoyable and immersive journey for everyone.

Our Chinese graded readers are designed to be more than just language practice. We want them to be windows into the rich and diverse cultures of Mandarin-speaking communities, so that you can experience the world through a different lens, even from the comfort of your home.

Yang Song is the main writer behind MandoLearn’s Chinese graded readers, blending his years of teaching experience with a passion for storytelling. As a former Chinese teacher who developed an award-winning language program in Arizona, Song brings creativity and expertise to every story.

Jazmine Song, co-founder of MandoLearn, combines her decade of Mandarin learning with a sharp eye for editing and design. She oversees the website, social media, and creative direction, ensuring every graded reader is polished and learner-friendly. Her mission? To make Mandarin fun and accessible for learners everywhere.

FOUNDER, AUTHOR AND EDITOR

Yang Song, MTESOL

Coming from a distinguished lineage of educators, Song is an award-winning certified Chinese teacher. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages and a Master's degree in TESOL. His passion for language teaching and acquisition has led to the creation of award-winning curriculum, which he has presented at national conferences in the United States and which has been adopted by numerous schools in Arizona. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, staring at his fish tank, and playing video games. His Instagram feed is filled with videos of cute animals and martial arts fights.

FOUNDER, EDITOR AND CONTENT PLANNER

Jazmine Song, M.Ed.

Jazmine began self-learning Chinese when she was a teenager. After high school, she attended Arizona State University to study Business and Chinese. During her undergraduate studies, she won 2nd place in the Chinese Bridge competition for the southwest region of the United States. This achievement earned her a trip to China, where she connected with hundreds of other Chinese learners from around the world. Soon after, she also studied abroad for a summer at Tsinghua University in Beijing. After graduating with a B.A. in Business (Chinese), she pursued a Master's degree in Secondary Education.
